1. Introduction

This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes Steel Life (St Helens) Ltd's (trading as "The Foundry St Helens") modern slavery and human trafficking policy for the financial year ending 2026. It sets out the steps we have taken to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our business or supply chains.

2. Our Business

Steel Life (St Helens) Ltd operates The Foundry St Helens, a container-based live events, food, retail, and entertainment venue based in St Helens, Merseyside. Food and beverage operations at the venue are conducted by Unity Events Ltd (Company No. 16682228), a related company within the same group. Our operations include event production, food and beverage operations, venue management, retail leasing, and hospitality services. We employ staff directly and work with a range of contractors, suppliers, and third-party operators.

3. Our Commitment

We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our business or our supply chains.

4. Our Supply Chains

Our supply chains include, but are not limited to:

  • Food and beverage suppliers (ingredients, consumables, equipment)
  • Contractors involved in the construction, fit-out, and maintenance of our venue
  • Security, stewarding, and cleaning service providers
  • Event production companies and technical suppliers
  • Staffing and agency workers
  • Marketing, design, and digital service providers

We recognise that certain sectors carry a higher risk of labour exploitation, including construction, hospitality, catering, and cleaning. We are committed to applying appropriate due diligence across these areas.

5. Policies in Relation to Slavery and Human Trafficking

  • Recruitment Policy — we use reputable labour providers and conduct right-to-work checks on all employees in accordance with UK law
  • Supplier Code of Conduct — we expect all suppliers to maintain appropriate labour standards
  • Whistleblowing Policy — we encourage staff to report any concerns about modern slavery, labour exploitation, or unethical practices without fear of reprisal
  • Equal Opportunities & Dignity at Work Policy

6. Due Diligence

To identify and mitigate risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains, we undertake the following:

  • Conducting right-to-work verification checks on all directly employed staff
  • Using reputable, vetted employment agencies and requiring confirmation that they comply with all applicable employment legislation
  • Including modern slavery compliance clauses in supplier and contractor agreements
  • Requesting that key suppliers confirm their own compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 where applicable
  • Remaining alert to the indicators of modern slavery during our normal business operations

7. Training

We provide awareness guidance to our management team and key staff to ensure they understand the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking, the indicators to look out for, and how to report concerns. This is embedded within our wider staff induction and compliance training.

8. Key Performance Indicators

  • No reports of known or suspected modern slavery are upheld against our business or any direct supplier
  • All directly employed staff have completed right-to-work verification prior to commencing work
  • Modern slavery compliance is included as a standing agenda item in our annual supplier review process

9. Reporting Concerns

Any member of staff, contractor, supplier, or member of the public who suspects that modern slavery or human trafficking is occurring within our business or supply chains is encouraged to report this immediately. Reports can be made to:

10. Statement Sign-Off
